Welcome to Summer Reading 2024
What is Summer Reading?
Summer Reading is an annual reading initiative where you can win prizes by reading, and participate in community activities! Suitable for all ages, we have reading challenges for infants to adults. No matter how little your littles are, introducing them to reading in the first few years improves their brain development! We have many free programs that are available to the public throughout June, July, and August if you're looking for things to do this summer. Check out our Calendar and our Programs page for more information.
Adult Summer Reading Challenge
You've asked and we have listened! We're thrilled to announce we will be hosting a Summer Reading Challenge for Adults this year. Did you read a book that you really liked this summer? Come into the library and fill out a recommendation card! All you'll need is the Title, Author, and a few words for the "I'd recommend this for fans of" section. Once a week, when you read a book you can fill out this card in exchange for a Summer Reading Ticket! Add your ticket to the pot and you will be entered to win a $20 Kwik Trip Gift Card. There are 10 weeks of Summer Reading so you can enter 10 Tickets total, but there is no minimum (participate as much or as little as you want!). The books can be any format- audiobook, eBook, or regular print. It can be a book of short stories or poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or graphic novel. The goal is simple: READ!
Kids Summer Reading Challenge
We're bringing back the BINGO Challenges that were so well-loved last year. Of course, they've had a refresh for our Summer Reading theme this year, Adventure Awaits. We're leaning heavily into Western Adventure this year at our library which will show in all of our Self-Directed Programs as well as keeping track of how many books you check out!

Complete a Bingo for a Prize!
- You can win a prize by doing the tasks in a bingo pattern shown below.

- Once you finish a Bingo pattern, bring your card into the library for a staff member to mark off, then you will be able to choose a small prize!
Can I Double Dip?
Yes, you can double dip: for example, if you read a book with a book on the cover at the library, you have completed both "Read a book with a book on the cover" AND "Read a book at the library". Feel free to cross off both but remember, only one bingo/one small prize per day.

Keep Track of How Many Books You Check Out!
Similar to last year, when your child checks out books, they can pick either a Cowboy Boot or a Hat to write their first name and how many books they're checking out. They can pick a place in the library to tape it on the wall and that will be their spot! Then when they come back to check out more, they can add that number to a sheriff star and tape it next to their name!
At the end of summer, we will count how many books were checked out, but make sure to take a picture before we take them down. We used suns, planets and stars last year and it was a huge hit. We had 121 Kids participate, 335 visits and 1,480 total books were checked out!
